Unique Accommodation in the Beauty of the
Sunshine Coast Hinterland
Nestled in the breathtaking Sunshine Coast Hinterland, Secrets on the Lake is a place of truly extraordinary beauty!
Being right on the shores of Lake Baroon and in a temperate rainforest, stunning treehouses have been built at the end of carved walkways, that wind through the trees, and finally, up to a waterfall near our ultimate treehouse called Secrets.
Apart from the extraordinary benefits of the rainforest air, guests are delighted by the tasteful beauty of each of the highly maintained treehouses, as well as their amazing views. Often overlooked as being an amazing part of Australian Aboriginal History, Lake Baroon a water supply lake for the Sunshine Coast was built to fill Baroon Pocket in 1987. As the rainfall, at times can be extraordinary, it filled in a matter of months by April 1988.
Secrets on the Lake has been built to become part of the landscape
Secrets on the Lake has been built to become part of the landscape, allowing the rainforest to continue to exist. Hidden in the forest are relics of a time which began over 60 thousand years, where only indigenous people lived in Australia.
It was known that visitors walked as far as from Townsville to Baroon for the Bunya Nut festival which happened every 3 years.
Hidden under the mulch of the rainforest and beside where our guests walk you can find remnants of the stone fires which were used for cooking. As part of our property, prior to building the dam, there was a Bora Ring for dancing and celebrating.
When you drive around the hinterland and down to the Lake, visitors get to experience the grandeur of the views to the Coast which goes for miles and to the mountains which are part of the Great Dividing Range.
One of the most iconic views being to the south and the Glasshouse Mountains, one of the most photographed and recognised regions in Australia.
More recently the Great Walk of the Sunshine Coast was built, originally through our land.
Historically, we invited a team of New Zealand Army Engineers to come and camp on our land near the Lake and they built the initial entry and the bridges for the Lake Baroon entrance of the Great Walk.
We did a land swap so they were able to make a Car Park and eventually we sold a 30 acre Lot back to the Water Board to allow them to own the Great Walk. Now thousands have enjoyed walking in the forest on a walk which is now 57 Kilometers long.
Secrets guests can walk to the Obi Obi Creek via the Great Walk, rock hop across and walk along the other side to a beautiful swimming hole. Here the adventurous can swim and sit under a waterfall.
We provide a Walkers Package for our guests, where we drive them to Kondallilla National Park, with a backpack lunch, and they walk back to the Lake Baroon entrance and to their treehouse.
Our guests can add to their stay by taking a drive to many of the beautiful places highlighted in the Montville and Maleny Area and beyond or just enjoy the beauty of Lake Baroon entrance itself.
