Over nearly thirty years, Secrets on the Lake has been blessed to witness many beautiful love stories. There is just something contagious about the love and attention to detail that George and Aldy have poured into creating this iconic rainforest getaway location. Its not surprising that as word of this magic location spreads, we can now have up to half a dozen couples propose here every week!
Secrets specialise in optional extras & secret surprises
Each couple is not only unique in their love language, but also in the elements that go into making their proposal both personal and deeply special for them. At Secrets on the Lake, we honour this difference by providing many different optional extras and secret surprises to help sway the odds of ‘yes’ in your favour.
Our treehouses, in themselves, provide a truly unique romantic experience, but, often the future brides or grooms are looking to take the wow factor to their own unique next level. A proposal is a huge event in people’s lives. The effort which goes into creating your own special event is totally worth it, as it becomes a milestone to remember for the rest of your lives.
It has all been secretly pre- arranged!
It is not unusual for the groom to invite his future life partner to call in to Secrets for a lunch and casually ask George for a tour to see a treehouse. It has all been secretly pre- arranged! Luggage has been previously secret squirrelled into the car. Time off secretly prearranged at work. So, when he asks, George will send him down to their treehouse, explaining that he has been held up and to go on down, and he will follow them down in a moment. The real surprise is when he starts bouncing on the bed and generally making himself at home… and she suddenly realises that something is afoot!
Imagine adding to this surprise with a petal endearment “Will you marry me?” on the floor, a bottle of French champagne on ice with monogrammed glasses, handmade chocolates, or a gourmet cheese platter or grazing board.
Another common surprise is to fly in by helicopter, and just as the couple circle in over the lake to land, there is huge “Will you marry me?” written in white rocks on the lawn. The couple land on Secrets lush lawns by the jetty and make their way to the private snug hut for a Boho Picnic OR the Colonial Lakehouse is set up for a delicious Lakehouse Interlude for two. This sets the scene for an amazing proposal. Afterwards all you need to do is take the gentle stroll to your treehouse, where sunken spas and glorious lakeside views await.
Maybe you want to keep the suspense a little longer and plan your special proposal for the day after you check in. We can setup these special extras for any time that suits your schedule and preferences. More recently, we have also created a proposal package which includes a photographer. The result is some extraordinary photos of this special moment when two lives decide to share the path ahead side by side. With permission, we are sharing some of these special moments here.
